This personal project started with me playing around with new Houdini Labs tools and turned into a learning project on ways to create large scale, detailed, procedural environments.

The city was approached from a mostly procedural approach with a few manual elements to make the city feel more custom and to break up some of the procedural uniformity and to save time. These included a modelling a custom building, placing the big neon signs, and selecting the building walls for the scaffolding. During the project I created many custom tools and procedural asset generation setups, for things like the scaffolding, the support structure and the different roof elements (antennas, etc). The smoke was created in EmberGen.
I decided to add a flying flying vehicle to the scene. It was modelled in Houdini and Textured in Substance Painter.
Feel free to use the 4K still render or video without camera motion for any non-commercial purpose.
