A few months ago I participated in Pwnisher 3D challenge where over 2000 artists created one very long marble machine.

Houdini was the clear choice for me in creating this project, as I wanted to have a lot of moving parts that worked together and Houdini allowed to create dynamic links between everything while remaining in control over timing and the marble path the whole way through. During this project I created a lot of procedural tools and setups. The whole machines was controlled by a single polygon curve that is used as a base to procedurally simulate the motion of the marble (with a custom marble solver), the placement and order of blocks and the timing of the animations (with a custom trigger solver). I had a blast creating this project and picked up a lot of tricks and workflows for future projects.
