Otoy maintains two seperate plugins for Houdini.

1. Houdini Main Plugin - Octane plugin that operates in the Houdini OBJ/SOP context.
2. Hydra Solaris Plugin - Octane plugin that operates in the Houdini Solaris context.

The process of installing the plugins is basically the same, but the builds you want use are different.

FAQ:

1. Can install both plugins at the same time? → The Solaris plugin actually ships with the latest Octane Houdini Main plugin included, as it relies on some of it’s libraries for material nodes etc. You CAN NOT however install both plugins individually. You can either just install Houdini main (and have no Octane Solaris) or just install Octane Solaris (and this will include Octane main).

2. Why does Solaris not have all the features that Houdini main plugin has?

   → The two plugins are maintained by two different dev teams. We have plans to modify Octane Solaris, to make it easier to keep feature parity between the two - where possible.
