Gobos are a great way to add interest and detail to your scene. This is how you can set them up in the Octane Universal Light:

Gobos will work with quad, disk, IES and Analytic (quad/disc) light types.

In this example I am using this free gobo pack: https://mschumacher.gumroad.com/l/DkHCV

Another great source is Grey Scale Gorilla: https://greyscalegorilla.com/textures/light-gobos

To set it up enable the Distribution { Texture } setting, and add your image under the texture tab.

BorderUV

I would recommend setting the Border UV setting from Wrap to Black Color or Clamp so that you don’t have an endlessly repeating pattern.

Light Size

The size of your light will determine how “sharp” your gobo shadows are:

A bigger light will create blurred shadows
